Program Description:

The foundation of play therapy is to meet children where they are and to speak their language. Technology is the modern facilitator of that language. Play therapy can be modified virtually to cultivate the therapeutic powers of play. Meeting a child in the digital world is comfortable and familiar to them and supports rapport building, exploration, and creativity. Telehealth provides a way of continuing sessions with children and their caregivers when meeting in person is not possible, and therefore maintains a sense of normalcy and routine. This workshop will assist mental health professionals in gaining the skills needed to engage children and adolescents in a virtual setting.
