Please note this is an introduction to D&D class. This course is a beginner level course. The intermediate course will be offered on January 13, 2023.

Continuing Education Certificate:

Participants will be required to complete an evaluation and post-test immediately upon conclusion of the workshop to receive a certificate. The CE certificate is awarded to those who attend the entire webinar.

Most state and national licensing boards will approve continuing education courses which cover clinical topics, practice management skills, legal and ethical responsibilities and stress management. Program Description:

Dungeons and Dragons, also known as D&D, is a popular tabletop roleplaying game that has helped individuals all over the world connect and grow. There are various ways in which playing this game can be used in play therapy. D&D is an epic adventure that can cultivate social connection, increase problem solving skills, creativity, self-expression and so much more!

This program will walk participants through learning how to play the game, how to build worlds and stories, and using character creation as a therapeutic tool.

Participants will receive supplies for this workshop! Workshop fee includes supplies.


Objectives:

1. Apply the basics of Dungeons and Dragons in a play therapy session.

2. Create a world in which to play Dungeons and Dragons.

3. Demonstrate how to create a story for clients to play through in therapy sessions.

4. Discuss how to help your client understand and play Dungeons and Dragons.

5. Identify how to modify any rules as written to meet client's needs in play therapy sessions.

6. Create a character for Dungeons and Dragons in play therapy sessions.

Live events may be recorded for future non-contact training opportunities. Attendees will be given prior notice of any recording; however, participation in the event implies consent to the recording and consent for any educational or commercial use without compensation.

Target Audience:

Graduate level mental health students & licensed mental health practitioners. This seminar is a beginning level course. This workshop is appropriate for licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals, including psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and professional counselors. Play therapy credit may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.

Training Refund Policy:

Cancellations received at least 7 days before a scheduled live training will be refunded 100%. Cancellations less than 7 days before a scheduled live training will receive no refund or credit. If an event is cancelled by Let’s Play Therapy Institute, the registrant will receive a full refund.

No partial CE credit is available. Attendees must be present for live events for the entire duration and complete an  evaluation and post-test to obtain credit.

Instructor(s)

Erika Walker

Erika Walker is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (dually licensed in Kansas and Missouri), as well as a Registered Play Therapist. She received her master’s degree in Social Work from Newman University in 2013 and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from The University of Kansas in 2006. Erika received her play therapy training from KC Play in 2015, and then obtained her Registered Play Therapist credential in 2016. She provides psychotherapy to families and individuals. Erika specializes in the areas of developmental delays, Autism, trauma, grief and loss, attachment and play therapy for ages 0 to 6, and 18 and up. She also has training on utilizing Dungeons and Dragons in therapy to work on treatment goals. Within her work, Erika utilizes Brainspotting, EMDR®, directive and non-directive play therapy, and AutPlay Therapy®. She also utilizes Theraplay® techniques.
