Program Description:

Join us for a fascinating two-day course tailor-made for mental health professionals. This immersive experience will make you think critically about biological narratives, while providing you with the necessary tools to guarantee that your approaches are philosophically, epistemologically and clinically sound.

Day 1: Philosophy

On the first day, we’ll explore essential differences between psychiatry and neurology that matter in play therapy. You will be plunged into an intriguing history of psychiatry as well as its key concepts that have shaped it. We shall also look at mental health from various perspectives such as disease, dimensions, behavior, life stories; discuss mind-body connection and biopsychosocial model. You will also polish your critical thinking abilities by knowing how to analyze research, appraise literature, and navigate ethical issues all within a framework of play therapy.

Day 2: Neuroscience

The second day is dedicated to giving you a firm grasp on neurobiology that every counselor must have covering brain anatomy and function. You are going to learn about the biological underpinnings of mental disorders including the effects of neurotransmitters like dopamine and pathways on emotional states.

4. Analyze and deconstruct common philosophical models of the mind and mental health and identify how these models can be useful or harmful.

6. Manage ethical considerations when considering biological narratives in play therapy emphasizing, justice, veracity, beneficence and non-maleficence.

7. Develop a solid understanding of neuroanatomy and brain function essential for navigating biological narratives in play therapy practice.
